Mollejón is the most porous natural stone we carry — and the most rewarding when it is sealed properly.
Mollejón is more porous than coralina and carries the highest maintenance of the range. It only holds up long term with a high-quality topping sealer over a penetrating base coat — an investment that can approach the cost of the stone itself, and the thing that makes the difference. Best on vertical walls. It can also be ground and polished to a fine finish and sealed, which gives a high-end polished floor in rectangular format with no grout. Never pressure-wash it hard: aggressive pressure lifts the sealer and opens the pores.

The range
The grout is the weak point: on porous stone the grout stains, and in very tight joints algae takes hold. Using rectangular formats, sometimes ungrouted (a dry joint), cuts maintenance sharply and lets you run a full stone wall without trouble. See the detail in the Mollejón guide.
